From the beginning, the focus of Providence Risk has been to administer claims for employers operating in Texas who sought an alternative to subscribing to the Texas Workers’ Compensation system. These employers are often referred to as NonSubscribers or Non-Subscribers. It is our job to return a productive employee to the workplace as quickly as possible. In 1997, Providence expanded its vision to include the administration of benefits for employers that choose to self-fund their group health benefit program. The name of this new venture was Providence Administrative Services, Inc. We viewed this as a first step - a step that would afford the opportunity to broaden our range of services and ultimately include the administration of integrated benefits. We focus on the overall health and well being of the employee - the whole person. We concentrate on what the employee can do rather than on what they cannot do, and zero-in on controlling absence from the workplace. This benefits the healthy employee’s morale, the employee’s family, and provides a more productive team member for the employer. Aware of the fact that personal attention, easy access and quick response were noticeably lacking from most Third Party Administrators, the leadership at Providence focused on just the opposite - service excellence. Providence’s goal was to break away from the growing trend of automated voice response and computer-generated “help” technology, both of which leave employers and their injured or ill employees feeling as though their needs are not a priority. At Providence, client-specific account coordinators provide a single point of contact for questions and concerns. At Providence, the caller speaks with a live person rather than a recording that asks that they punch one for this, two for that, and three for something else. Old fashioned service is not old fashioned at Providence. It is the norm. Providence is, was, and always will be about service excellence.
